Analiza legislativo de Costa Rica endurecer leyes marítimas

La iniciativa contempla penas de cárcel y sanciones administrativas para diferentes tipos de delitos, precisó el organismo en un comunicado.
El instrumento prevé penas de uno a siete años de prisión por negligencias que atenten contra la seguridad de las embarcaciones, sus tripulantes y pasajeros.
Por el delito de transporte de pasajeros en exceso, los violadores podrían permanecer tras rejas de uno a tres años o pagar una multa de cinco a 20 salarios base, establece el documento.
Contempla además, entre otras figuras delictivas, fuertes penalidades por navegación fuera de zonas autorizadas, transporte de mercancías peligrosas y navegación sin dispositivos de seguridad y salvamento.
El proyecto legislativo en el ámbito marítimo surgió luego del deceso en enero de este año de tres personas como consecuencia del hundimiento de un catamarán frente a las costas de Herraduras, en Puntarenas.
De acuerdo con el Organismo de Investigación Judicial, la tragedia sucedió como consecuencia de los fuertes vientos y el oleaje reinante en la zona.
