Emergency services make a mock ammonia leak in Pertús

In the exercise they have been activated Relief Plan Binacional between Spain and France and the special emergency plan in the transport of dangerous goods Transcat.
The aim of the drill was to evaluate the device crisis management during a train accident and test the organization of emergency response in its international dimension and the flow of information in the chain of command of Spain and France and operational organization of services in both countries.
Since the launch of the high speed line Perpignan-Figueres, this is the fifth drill that takes place in the tunnel Pertús, this time in France. The previous drill took place in February 2013 in the Spanish part of the tunnel.
In this exercise they have intervened human and material resources of the Government Delegation in Catalonia, Prefecture, Civil Protection of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Fire Brigade, the National Police, Guardia Civil, Mossos d'Esquadra, local police Junquera and the medical Emergencies System (SEM).
They have also participated personnel and technical resources station and TP Ferro, the concessionaire company responsible for the installation and tunnel safety as well as effective firefighters and the French police.
The exercise has been to simulate a leak of hazardous materials within the tunnel Perthus in French territory, of a freight train that circulated in the direction France-Spain on the high speed line Perpignan-Figueres.
Due to a major ammonia leak in one of the tank cars, the train stopped in the tunnel and, from that moment, have enabled all the planned action plans.
The deputy of the Government in Girona, Juan Manuel Sánchez-Bustamante, has shifted to the command of the French north end, accompanied by the head of Civil Protection of the Government Office, Basols Bernardino.
The prefect of the Pyrenees Orientales, Philippe Vignes, has been responsible for directing relief operations, to the simulation performed in French territory, and by the Generalitat, has participated the director of the territorial services of Interior in Girona, Albert Ballesta.
