According to a press release, the actions carried out in coordination with various agencies also allowed the Profepa make available to the Federal Public Ministry to 3 people for improperly transporting such waste. 
During the operation 5,307 cargoes suspected hazardous materials and wastes regulated by the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT) goods were reviewed, of which 4,464 correspond to revisions in road points at 516 and 327 maritime customs in land customs. 
The National Operating Room was held on 6 and 7 August and focused mainly on detecting illegal trade in hazardous waste through unauthorized companies for that purpose; identify irregularities in the transportation of hazardous materials and substances; and ensure environmentally sound management of the same. 
It was coordinated by the Deputy Industrial Inspection PROFEPA and included the participation of 251 inspectors and 321 elements from different security agencies: 109 of the Federal Police (PF), 6 of the Attorney General's Office (PGR) 1 Public Ministry, 43 members of the state police, 26 municipal, 83 of the Ministry of National Defense (Ministry of Defence), 5 of the Navy (SEMAR) and 48 items from the General Administration of Customs. 
It should be noted that waste is considered hazardous if it appears on the Mexican Official Standard NOM-052-SEMARNAT-2005 and has some of the following characteristics: corrosivity, reactivity, flammability and toxicity, as well as packaging, containers, packaging and contents that have soil contaminated with such waste. 
The purpose of these actions is to prevent a possible ecological risk, mismanagement of these, ensure compliance with the applicable regulations in the matter, as the General Law for the Prevention and Management of Waste, and monitor the implementation Penal Code Federal. The Code provides in Article 414 that his sentence of one to nine years in prison and three thousand three hundred days of fines that illegally engaging in the production, storage, traffic, import or export, transport, abandonment, waste will prevail, download, or perform any other activity with hazardous substances. 
Furthermore, Article 420 of that system Quater notes that sentence of one to four years in prison and fined three thousand three hundred days, who transport or consents shall be imposed, authorizes or orders to be transported any waste considered hazardous to a destination for which no authorization to receive, store, dispose or leave is taken.
